Feb.4(Sat.)-Mar.11(Sun.), the planned Exhibition of 10 contemporary textile artists " Beyond a thread" will be held at the Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art. Four works by Noriko Tsuiki are to be exhibited. A round-table talk by three exhibitors ( Mr. Shigeto Suzuta, Mr. Tetsuya Matsueda and Noriko Tsuiki) is scheduled for Feb. 18(Sat.) 14:00-15:30.
Kokura Stripes has been selected by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to represent JAPAN BRAND and will be exhibited again at Maison & Objet 2012 (Jan. 20-24) in Paris. This year, a new collecion of fabrics named "SHIMA-SHIMA LIV" will be introduced in addition to original "SHIMA-SHIMA" line designed by Noriko Tsuiki.

On Oct. 01, 2011, The Asahi Shimbun (newspaper) featured Noriko Tsuiki in its Saturday edition "Front Runner", and reported Noriko Tsuiki's attitude in creation to make much of the modern senses with respecting the tradition. Recent global activities are mentioned too.
"Omokage ( Vestiges )", kokura- stripes cotton sash for kimono, was taken up in the feature article : a view of Arts & Crafts in Modern Encyclopedia of Design, 2011 published by Heibonsha, Tokyo. According to the description, " kokura-stripes is a good example for that the revaluation of traditional design is reproducing rich expressions which were once lost in the history ".
Colorful and modern stripes designed by Noriko Tsuiki now find new application in 11 kinds of bankbooks and a bankcard of Kitakyushu-Bank, which is newly established as the first Kitakyushu-city based local bank company.
Jul. 5 - Aug. 31, 2011 The Exhibition " Stripes : Modern Crafts from the Museum Collections" was held at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo. "Tanshin ( heart of scarlet )" by Noriko Tsuiki was exhibited as a work of the museum collections. Visitors could have enjoyed exploration in the world of Stripes.
"Haruka ( Faraway )", Kokura-Stripes cotton sash for kimono, was selected for the 45th Japan Traditional Textile Arts Exhibition.

We have successfully exhibited "Kokura-Stripes" at Milano Salone-Milan Design Week 2011 ( Apr. 12-17 ), one of the world leading trade fair in interior & design. We shared the exhibition space in the area of Brera with other celebrated interior brand such as AGAPE, the top home ceramic supplier. This was possible because we could have received the invitation from an architect and interior designer in Milan who previously visited our booth at Maison & Objet 2011 in Paris.

The Exhibition, "Kokura-ori : Shima ga orinasu mugen no sekai (Kokura-ori : Infinite World Woven by Stripes)" will be held at the Kokura Castle Japanese Garden (Ogasawara Kaikan). Only on Mar.28 (Mon.), the exhibition room closes to renew exhibits. On Display will be multifaceted work by the young new kokura-ori artists including the weavers graduated from yuh Textile Studio.

"Kokura-ori" has been selected to be part of the JAPAN BRAND project by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and will be exhibiting this year again at "MAISON & OBJET" which is the world's top interior & design trade show to take place in Paris. (Jan.21- Jan. 25, 2011)
2011 calendar, "Iki" (chic) by Toppan Company with the theme of Kokura-ori sashes by Noriko Tsuiki, created for the Matsuo Corporation is awarded The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Award (a top award) at the 62nd National Calendar Exhibition, for the First Division (calendars by business corporations) entry.
